Otama (“the App”) is a focus-oriented home screen launcher and app-blocking tool developed and provided by Skraneix Development Studios (“we”, “us”, “our”). Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information.
Otama is a fully local, offline app. We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. Everything you create — your blocked apps list, routines, widgets, notes, habits, themes, focus history — stays on your device. (Otama was previously developed under the working title "Shizu" during development)
We do NOT collect any personal information, including but not limited to:
All content you create stays entirely on your device. Nothing is sent to our servers — we do not run any servers to send to.
Otama requests several Android permissions to function as a launcher and focus tool. Each is used strictly on your device, never transmitted to us or any third party:
Required to detect which app you have just opened, so Otama can apply your configured interrupt-lock or time-lock to that app. Usage information is read in real-time and never logged, stored, or transmitted off the device.
Required to draw the interrupt-lock overlay — the mini-games, breathing exercises, confirmation prompts, and timer screens — on top of the app you opened. The overlay is shown only by Otama, only on your device.
Required for Otama to function as your home screen launcher. Setting Otama as your default launcher is optional and can be reverted at any time in Android Settings.
Used to display Pomodoro timer notifications, focus reminders, time-lock expiry alerts, and similar in-app messages. All notifications are generated on your device only.
Required to display your installed apps in the app drawer and let you choose which apps to block, time-lock, or add to Quick Nav. The list of installed apps is read locally and never transmitted.
Used to keep the app-monitoring service running so that locks continue working, and to restart the service after your device reboots. No data leaves the device.
All data created within the App is stored locally on your device, in Android’s standard private app storage. This includes:
This data is fully under your control. Uninstalling the App removes all of it from your device. If you have enabled Android’s system-wide app backup, that backup is handled by Google under their own privacy terms — we have no access to it.

All purchases are processed securely through the Google Play Store. We do not receive:
The App only knows whether your current device has an active subscription or lifetime purchase, based on what Google Play Billing reports. This status is cached locally to unlock premium features in the App.
You can cancel any subscription at any time through your Google Play account settings. Lifetime purchases cannot be cancelled (they are one-time payments) but are subject to Google Play’s standard refund policies.
The App does not require:
The App is fully functional offline. The only network activity is communication with Google Play Billing when verifying subscription status — initiated by Google’s billing library, not by us.
We do NOT:
Because we collect no data, there is nothing for us to share or sell.
Otama is offline-first. The only network calls the App makes are to Google Play Billing services, to verify subscription and lifetime-purchase status. No other servers, telemetry endpoints, or content APIs are contacted by the App.
Because we do not collect or store any personal information on our servers, the following applies:
Under GDPR / UK-GDPR you have rights such as access, deletion, portability, and objection. However, since we do not collect or store any personal data, there is no data for us to provide, modify, or delete. To remove all locally stored data, uninstall the App.
We do not collect personal information as defined under CCPA / CPRA. We do not sell or share personal information. California users may contact us, but we have no personal data to disclose or delete.
We do not track users across sites or services. The App does not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals because the App does not track in the first place.
The App does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The App is intended for general productivity use and is not specifically directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
The App uses one third-party service:
No advertising networks, analytics services, crash reporters, content delivery networks, or other third-party SDKs are used.
Because no data is transmitted to or stored on our servers, your information remains fully under your control on your device. We recommend securing your device with a passcode, PIN, or biometric lock to protect the content you create within the App.
We may update this Privacy Policy if the App’s behavior changes — for example, if we add a new permission or feature in a future version. If changes occur, the updated version will be posted with a new “Effective Date”. Significant changes will be surfaced in the App where appropriate.
